ICO consults on enforcement of data protection laws

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has launched a consultation on its draft ‘Regulatory Action Policy’, which sets out how it will enforce new data protection laws. The draft policy covers 11 pieces of legislation, including the GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. The consultation is seeking feedback about how the ICO will use its increased powers, such as carrying out inspections without notice and compelling organisations to hand over information. The consultation closes on 28 June 2018.
