SEUK is the national body for social enterprise, carrying out research, providing information and tools, sharing knowledge, building networks, raising awareness and campaigning to create a business environment where social enterprises can thrive.
RBS has a strong heritage supporting community-based businesses. Through RBS Social & Community Capital (S&CC), we are building on that support, helping potential and existing social entrepreneurs who are unable to access sufficient finance through mainstream channels.
We will look to support viable charities, social enterprises, community interest companies and co-operatives who are sustainable, deliver high levels of social value and are investment ready.
Through our independent charity RBS Social & Community Capital is offering Loan Funding of between £30,000 and £750,000 depending on the type of organisation, to enable Social Enterprises to gain the finance they need to expand their market.
There is no deadline to apply, and applications for loan funding are open all year round.
Social enterprises, charities, community interest companies and co-operatives who find it difficult to get sufficient mainstream finance to expand their business, can apply for a specifically designed Community Business Loan from RBS Social & Community Capital.
Please see the eligibility criteria and how to apply pages for more information. The Community Business Loan is open for applications all year round.
The Community Business Loan was created and is managed by the independent charity RBS Social & Community Capital (S&CC) set up by RBS in 1999.
RBS was attracted to the social enterprise sector which was, at that time, largely unexplored by the banks. Social enterprises often provided greater stability and sustainability and were able to deliver a higher societal return compared to traditional businesses.
The charity supports social entrepreneurs who struggle to access mainstream finance because they might not meet banks’ normal criteria. It fulfills a need that banks traditionally haven’t been able to meet.
RBS Social & Community Capital is an independent charity. Registration number 1079626.
The Power to Change Initial Grants Programme (IGP) is designed to help existing community businesses in England that are in a position to significantly improve their long-term sustainability within six months of receiving a grant.
